HI,

I was born in the US by an American-by-birth mother and a Portuguese-by-birth father. My father became a naturalized US citizen some years before I was born.By virtue of the fact that my father was Portuguese-by-birth, I am entitled to seek Portuguese citizenship. I am in the process of doing so. My understanding is that once this process is complete, my American-by-birth spouse can also seek Portuguese citizenship. Both of us plan on maintaining dual citizenship (NOT relinquishing our US citizenship).
Several questions:
1) Once I am declared a Portuguese citizen, what is the process for obtaining a Portuguese passport for myself? Is this process long and cumbersome? Is it costly? How do I proceed?
2) Once I am declared a Portuguese citizen, what is the process for having my spouse declared a Portuguese citizen? Is this process (for my spouse) long and cumbersome? Is it costly? How does she proceed?

Any help will be apprecited.
